Bali Hilton International Hosts UNDP Capacity 2015 Conference
in Balinese Megibung style

On Thursday 6 June 2002, a Balinese welcome was provided by the Bali Hilton International for the participants of the UNDP Capacity 2015 conference. In attendance was Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Tala of Jordan who was welcomed at the hotel entrance by Director Hotel Operations Mr. Ian E. Mckie. Balinese maidens and the "Grumbungan", Balinese giant cowbell orchestra helped to set the mood.

The Capacity 2015 Conference was held at the hotels Grand Ballroom where guests were welcomed with tropical concoctions served in coconuts. Among those making presentations and speeches were Dr. Alvaro Umaña, Leader, Environment & Sustainable Development Group, Her Royal Highness Basma bint Tala of Jordan, Mr. Fevzi Aytekin, the Turkish Minister of the Environment, Mr.Kaoru Ishikawa, the Deputy Director General, Multilateral Co-operation Department from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan, and Ms. Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, Executive Director, Tebtebba Foundation, Philippines.

The 325 participants dined in megibung style, a traditional Balinese way of eating with the delicacies placed in one basket in the center of each table. To complement the dinner, a Ramayana dance was performed.
