Bali Hilton International Hosts Japan Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi

Japan Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi stopped over in Bali on his scheduled to visit East Timor on April 29th 2002. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Chief Cabinet Secretary, Senior Members of Parliament and traveling journalists. During the visit the delegation stayed at the Bali Hilton International for 2 Nights. The Prime Minister and his delegation arrived in the hotel on the evening on April 28th, 2002 where they were greeted by Mr Ian McKie, Director of Hotel Operations. Accompanying them was the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Prof. Bungaran Saragih. The plenary group of the Japan Embassy and Consulate officials had arrived in advance to make the preparation for the visit. Mr. Koizumi and his delegation were being accommodated in the Ayodya Palace, Bali Hilton's Executive wing while the Grand Ballroom was converted into a press center for the 36 journalists traveling on the visit.

Immediately after check in The Prime Minister had a brief session with Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Prof. Bungaran Saragih. Afterward the Prime Minister enjoyed a sumptuous dinner at the Genji restaurant specially prepared by Chef Yamamoto.

On April 29th 2002 in the morning, the party left for East Timor and returned to the hotel in the evening for a BBQ dinner at the Bali Hilton International. The group departed for Australia on the 30th of April 2002.
